Four Indians among 14 killed in Kabul guesthouse siege
May 14, 2015
At least four Indians were killed among 14 dead when gunmen stormed a guesthouse in the Afghan capital on Wednesday evening
as it hosted a party for foreigners. The five-hour
long siege ended early Thursday morning. Six people were wounded
and 54 hostages rescued.
The brutal assault was reminiscent of two attacks by Taliban fighters
in Kabul last year, one on a restaurant and another on a hotel.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on the
Park Palace guesthouse, but the assault comes as the Taliban -- who have
attacked such guesthouses in the past -- press their annual spring
offensive.
