Man who sang paeans to Shivaji passes away

Shahir Sabale passes away at 92. Sabale was a cult figure in Maharashtra for popularising Shivaji by singing pawwadas (a song of praise).
He is famous for the zesty 'Jai Jai Maharastra Mazha, Garja Maharastra mazha'. He is also a lyricist, singer, dholaki-player and a playwright.
Sable was honoured with the Padmashri in 1998.
he passed away at 92 (not 94 as mentioned earlier)
