Gandhis statue in London near one-time nemesis Churchill
March 14, 2015
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley speaks at the unveiling. "This is a coming together of world's oldest democracy and world's largest democracy," he says.
"Irony that Winston Churchil's statue in Parliament Square is there along with Gandhi. The former described as 'half-naked fakir'. What will link Churchill and Gandhi together is their strength of character" he says.
"India and Britain have come a long way since the parting "at the stroke of the midnight hour,"he says.
