J-K is NOT a part of India: Geelani stokes controversy
March 09, 2015
Amid statements from the PM and the Home Minister on separatist leader Masarat Alam's release from prison in Lok Sabha, Hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani stirred a controversy over the status of Kashmir, saying that India should realise that "Jammu and Kashmir is disputed territory and not a part of the country".

Speaking about Alam's release, he added that the charges against Alam were baseless as he knew him well and that this was merely a political stunt by parties.
