Militants shot and killed an employee of a government hospital in Sopore town in north Kashmir this morning, reports Mukhtar Ahmad/Rediff.com from Srinagar.


A senior police officer said that militants fired at one Mohammed Altaf Sheikh from close range and later escaped. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.


Altaf was an employee of the Sopore sub-district hospital, the policeman added.
