In continuing violence in Jammu and Kashmir, militants today opened fire at a village sarpanch in Kashmir's Shopian district this afternoon. "Militants opened fire at Mohammed Yakoob Malla at the bus stand in Shopian. He has been critically injured and was rushed to a local hospital where attending doctors referred him to the main hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment," a senior police official said.
