Brawl breaks out between India, Pak fans at Sydney club
February 16, 2015
Sydney Morning Herald reports: A brawl broke out between fans of India and Pakistan in Sydney after the high-voltage match yesterday.
Four people were taken to hospital with a range of injuries after a
wild brawl broke out between about 40 fans watching the match on a big
screen at Merrylands RSL Club around 9.30pm
(local time).
Chairs and tables were hurled across the room, and police confirmed one person was hit on the head by a glass that was thrown.
A NSW Police
spokesman said a group of fans had gathered to watch the match,
broadcast live from the Adelaide Oval, when tensions boiled over.
India consigned Pakistan to a humiliating 76-run defeat in their first
match of Cricket World Cup 2015 in Adelaide on Sunday. This was Indias
sixth straight World Cup win over their arch-rivals.
