Arjun Rampal has been summoned by the Mumbai police after it received information that the Bollywood actor met jailed gangster Arun Gawli in January.

He met Gawli at J J Hospital last month. Rampal is playing the role of the gangster in an underproduction movie 'Daddy.' 

The actor spent close to an hour with the don in the hospital's out-patient department. He did not have permission to meet Gawli, who is serving a life term in connection with the murder of corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar in 2008.

Gawli was brought to the hospital for a routine check-up and was in judicial custody when he met Rampal.
