BJP national vice-president BS Yeddyurappa has become the frontrunner for the chief ministerial candidate of Karnataka. The Supreme Court declined to intervene and lift a Karnataka High Court stay on his prosecution in a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The state goes to the polls two years from now. As Yeddy is in control of the BJP, it will provide stiff opposition to the Congress.
