Logjam breakthrough! Speaker allows 150 minutes for Lalit Modi debate
August 12, 2015

With just a day more for the Monsoon session of Parliament to end and costs running to over Rs 35 crore, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today allotted 150 minutes in the house for a debate on the Lalit Modi episode.

Earlier, an angry Sushma Swaraj took on the opposition benches today saying that she was ready "right now... this very minute" for a debate on the Lalit Modi controversy.

The Congress-led opposition has not allowed Parliament to function demanding the removal of Sushma Swaraj for helping tainted cricket tycoon Lalit Modi.

"Call it Lalitgate, Modigate, whatever, the discussion must happen," the Foreign Minister said, after the Congress raised the topic.

The Congress wants the Prime Minister to be present when the minister makes her statement.
