Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg says FB will help PM Modi connect villages online
October 09, 2014
Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is in India on a two-day visit. He will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.
Addressing a meet, Zukerberg says PM Modi is conmitted to connecting villages online and he is excited to see how Facebook can help.
"Today more than 85% of the people live within the range of an existing network - for these people the problem of connectivity is economic. But the biggest set of barriers is social. Connectivity is a fundamental right," he says.
Zuckerbeg is in India to address the first Internet.org summit taking place on October 9-10 in New Delhi. The young billionaire is expected to meet members of other key ministries as well.
