An attack on a synagogue in West Jerusalem has killed at least five Israelis and two Palestinian attackers, reports Al Jazeera.

Two other Israelis were injured in the attack on Tuesday morning.

Police sources said that the attackers, armed with knives and axes, entered Har Nof Synagogue before being shot dead by police.

Earlier reports said the attackers were armed with guns.

The area has been cordoned off.
