Sena, Congress withdraw candidates for Speaker

In fresh developments, the Shiv Sena and the Congress have withdrawn their candidates for the Speaker's post in the Maharashtra assembly. Speaking about the withdrawal, Sena leader Ramdas Kadam said, "Uddhav ji has decided to support BJP's Haribhau Bagde and so we withdrew our speaker candidate Vijay Ahuti. 

On Tuesday, the Sena had nominated Vijay Ahuti for the post while the Congress had named Varsha Gaikwad. Initially, there was going to be a three-way contest for the post with the BJP naming Haribhau Bagde.
