Wanted criminal arrested in Delhi with associates

Rajesh Bawania, one of the most notorious criminals of the national capital was today arrested along with four of his associates following a brief encounter and a chase with the Special Cell in Outer Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area this evening, police said.

Although nobody was injured in the gun battle, a huge cache of weapons was recovered by the police from the alleged criminals who have been evading arrest since long. 

Based on a tipoff, the Special Cell of Delhi Police laid a trap. After a chase, the criminals were intercepted. Finding no way out, they opened fire prompting the police to retaliate. The gang was soon overpowered and nabbed, said a police official.

Rajesh Bawania is a history-sheeter wanted in several cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robberies and Arms Act. He and his gang operated in Outer Delhi's Bawana area.
