Of an RBI chief who does not speak Tamil and Pepsico chief who does
November 05, 2014
RBI governor Raghuram Rajan is a Tamil Brahmin, an Iyengar, but he does not speak in his mother tongue whenever he meets union minister Nirmala Sitaraman or politicians from Tamil Nadu or for that matter Tamil-speaking babus.

That's a departure from Pepsico chief Indra Nooyi who always sends text messages or emails in chaste Tamil and speaks in a typical Mylapore Brahmin accent to Sitharaman, P Chidambaram or to APJ Abdul Kalam.

Nooyi was born in Tamil Nadu but is a naturalised US citizen.
