Gunmen on Friday morning attacked the Indian consulate in the Afghan city of Herat. 

The area is surrounded by security forces and the exchange of gunfire is on.

Police spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said that Afghan suicide attackers have stormed the Indian consulate.
