Sumitra Mahajan unanimously elected as the Lok Sabha Speaker. She succeeds Meira Kumar. 

After her election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates Mahajan. "It is a matter of pride to have a woman as a Speaker. 315 members in this Lok Sabha are new entrants. With so many new members, hope the session will be productive."
