Gopinath Munde, the former deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra (1995-1999) is not the first in the family to die on the third day of a month. His illustrious brother-in-law and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, who brought Munde into politics, had died on May 3, 2006. The former Parliamentary Affairs minister was shot at and fatally injured by his brother Pravin Mahajan over a family dispute on April 22, 2006. Pravin died at a Thane hospital on March 3, 2010, three years after he was jailed for the murder.
