July 20, 2014
Sources have revealed that the Congress will be contesting the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections on their own, signalling the end of their alliance with the National Conference, headed by Farooq Abdullah. According to sources, workers of both parties are dead against going together in the polls, leading to the split in the alliance. The Congress-National Conference coalition government came to power under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in January 2009.
