West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee today said, "The Tapas Pal controversy was blow out of proportion by the media to malign the party."

Trinamool Congress Member of Parliament Pal had threatened to kill Communist Party of India-Marxist workers and having their women raped. His speech trggered widespread outrage, following which he tendered an apology.
