India has summoned top United States diplomats to lodge a protest after reports emerged that American National Security Agency spied on foreign parties including the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.    

New Delhi has told the Americans that such acts of snooping are unacceptable.  India has also sought assurance from the US that it will not happen again.
