Parliamentary Affairs minister Kamal Nath says the incident is a big blot on democracy, but when asked about how a knife and a pepper could have been got inside Parliament, he said MPs are not allowed to be frisked.

Union Minister Rajiv Shukla said strong action would be taken against erring MPs as it was an attempt to "kill" members.
