Activists may believe that the Jan Lokpal Bill has fallen short on various points, but the legislation marks a significant step forward for India. 

Whether the Bill will actually turn out to be effective in curbing the menace of corruption depends on the partnership by Indian citizens in the process. The Right to Information Act has become a stellar success story due to tremendous public participation.
