Modi to inaugurate 2 power projects, lay foundation stone for Leh-Srinagar transmission line
August 12, 2014
In his second visit to Jammu and Kashmir after assuming office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Leh and Kargil today. Coming ahead of the assembly-elections, the trip will involve a major boost for the power sector in the energy-starved state.

Modi is visiting Ladakh to inaugurate two power projects and also lay the foundation stone of the Leh-Srinagar transmission line.

The transmission line - a project announced by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in August 2003 - will connect Ladakh with the country's northern grid and go a long way towards solving the power woes of Leh.
