Our correspondent in New Delhi reports: "Please attend the last Union Cabinet meeting at 11 am on May 17, 2014 Tuesday, which will tender resignation to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.' This one-line message is from Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth who phoned up Union ministers and personally requested them to attend the meeting.  

The convention has been that the prime minister will submit the resignation of the council of ministers. Hence, attendance of this meeting is essential to each of the ministers.
