Taliban militants attack Afghan President's palace

Several Taliban militants, including suicide bombers, attacked the area around the Presidential palace in Kabul on Tuesday morning, according to reports. 

The militants opened fire on the bodyguards of President Hamid Karzai.

The local police claimed that all the militants were killed in the ensuing gunfight. But the civilian casualty toll is not yet known.

The US embassy and the NATO headquarter is also located in the area targeted by the militants.
