PM goes soft on Bihar
June 07, 2013
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has written to Union Ministers directing them to take the recommendations of the conference of governors seriously. He has also attached a summary of actionable suggestions.

The PM wants the Ministry of Finance and the Planning Commission to report to him on the governor of Bihar insisting on a nuclear power plant of 10,000 MW capacity be set up in Bihar and a proposal to give a special status to Bihar be considered.

The Rajasthan governor has asked for a refinery for his state, which the PM has asked the Ministry of Petroleum to act on quickly. A union minister commented that with the country set to go to the polls in the next six months, a governor's suggestions can be ignored.
