Former BJP MLAs booked for burning CM's effigy in UP

An FIR was lodged against 21 persons, including three former BJP MLAs, for allegedly staging a demonstration and burning an effigy of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav during a protest against the hike in power tariff, a senior officer said.
"Senior BJP leaders and former MLAs along with their supporters staged a demonstration and burnt an effigy of the chief minister at Indira Chowk in Civil Lines on Friday evening about which information was received from the intelligence department," said Superintendent of Police Maan Singh.
