Why India's Food Bill is bad for agriculture

Under the National Food Security Bill, India will initially spend an estimated $4 billion a year on supplying about 70% of its population with cheap grain. Some farmers say it's not worth it.
ReadThe government on Wednesday decided to promulgate an Ordinance to give nation's two-third population the right to 5 kg of foodgrain every month at highly subsidised rates of Rs 1-3 per kg.
