Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not quit before the Lok Sabha polls. The Prime Minister's Office has dismissed speculation that Dr Singh has offered to quit on January 3 to make way for Congress No 2 Rahul Gandhi.

He is expected to address a press conference to January 3 about the Congress's strategy for 2014, say sources. This will be his first press conference in nearly five years.
