September 25, 2012
A correspondent in Delhi reports: Union Environment Minister Jayanti Natarajan has re-constituted an environment clearance committee of mega projects with M Raman, a former IAS officer and retired secretary, as its chairman.

The first meeting of this 21-member committee has 350 items on its agenda. Currently, this committee is meeting in New Delhi with much fanfare. Incidentally, Raman was picked by former Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh and his candidature was approved by the Prime Minister's Office.
