So far, 4000 people have been evacuated from Mahabalipuram. Schools, colleged in nine districts have remained shut. Rescue teams and shelters are in place. Landfall is expected to continue for at least another hour. A private ship has been grounded, but open season as yet on where Nilam is headed next. High tides is expected later this evening.
