The police on Tuesday detained nine men for vandalising a clinic in Palghar, Maharashtra, after the niece of the clinic owner posted a comment on Facebook questioning the shutdown in the wake of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's death.

The police had earlier faced flak for arresting the girl who had posted the comment and her friend who had 'liked' it.

The two girls were granted bail hours after their arrest.

It has not been ascertained if the detained men are members of the Shiv Sena.
