The quake occured at approximately 6:15 pm. The tremors were felt across the north-east. Early reprots say people rushed out of their buildings in Guwahati and Shillong. The tremors felt in Kolkata were very mild. The Malda region of West Bengal and several other districts also reported the tremors.
