Just in: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announces in the Lok Sabha that the levy on all precious metals, branded or unbranded stands withdrawn. In effect, this means that the gold has become cheaper as the government has rolled back hike and excise duty on branded and non-branded gold items.
