July 14, 2012
The UPA has named Vice President Hamid Ansari as its choice for the post for a second term.

Ansari had earlier been named as a candidate for the President's post but the UPA finally nominated senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee.

In 2007, Ansari's name was proposed for the VP's post by the Left parties and the UPA had supported his candidature.
