CPI(M): Want non-Congress person as Vice President

Update on the vice presidential elections. The CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat says the party wants a candidate who does not belong to the Congress. The Congress wants vice president Hamid Ansari to be given a second term. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last night stepped up efforts to drum up support for Ansari. Elections are scheduled for August 7. Ally TMC is against the candidature.
