Presenting a counterview to Max Fisher's article, The Atlantic also carries this thoughtful piece by Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, author of Bin Laden's Legacy, and a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where he argues that while the Al Qaeda's capacity to attack us hasn't increased significantly, the United States has far weaker capabilities than it did 10 years ago: even if the Al Qaeda has experienced a decline in the past decade, the US has declined more steeply.
