Maldives today made it clear that its friendship with China will not affect its ties
with India. Replying to a question on China opening its embassy in Maldives this week, President Mohammad Nasheed said, "India has been a good friend, best neighbour and we will continue to work with India."

China opened its full diplomatic mission in Male, the capital of Maldives, on November 8, coinciding with the Saarc Summit.
