Apex court says no to asking govt to divulge names
July 04, 2011

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to direct the government to disclose the names of persons who have stashed away money in foreign banks, but it appointed a Special Investigation Team headed by former Supreme Court judge B P Jeevan Reddy to probe the black money issue.

Aiding Reddy in the SIT will be another former Supreme Court judge, M B Shah.

The Supreme Court also said the high-level committee constituted by the government to look into the black money issue will become part of this SIT.

Further details are awaited.
